Every tool, by the job it does
Make a document, read one, or start from a template. The invoicing calculators answer the questions around them.
Make a document
- Invoice generator
Make a UK invoice PDF in six templates, with VAT, bank details and your logo.
- Quote generator
A professional quote or estimate as a PDF, with a valid-until date.
- Receipt generator
A paid receipt for a customer, as a PDF, in seconds.
- Credit note generator
A credit note against an invoice, with the amount credited.
- Pro forma invoice generator
A pro forma invoice to request payment before you deliver.
- Invoice number generator
A numbering format for your invoices, and the next number in your sequence.
Read a document
- Invoice parser
Read an invoice PDF or photo into data: supplier, dates, VAT, totals and lines.
- Receipt to CSV
Photos of receipts into one spreadsheet, a row for each, ready for Excel.
Templates
- Business document templates
Forty-four documents, from a VAT invoice to a letter before action, in Word, Excel and PDF.
- Invoice templates by trade
An invoice laid out for your trade, with the lines and VAT it usually needs.
- Receipt templates by trade
A receipt for trades paid on the spot, from barbers to market traders.
Invoicing calculators
- Invoice due date
When an invoice is due under its payment terms, and when interest can start.
- Late payment interest
The statutory interest and fixed compensation you can add to a late business invoice.
- VAT
Add VAT to a price or take it out, at 20, 5 or 0 percent.
- Reverse charge checker
Whether the VAT domestic reverse charge applies to a construction invoice.
How they fit together
The tools follow a job from the first price to the money in the bank.
Price the job
Send a quote with a valid-until date. If you need paying up front, send a pro forma instead.
Invoice and settle up
Invoice the work with your VAT, bank details and terms, numbered in sequence. Give a receipt when you are paid, or a credit note to reduce or cancel an invoice.
Read what you are sent
Drop a supplier invoice into the parser, or a pile of receipts into receipt to CSV, and import the result.
Working out a figure rather than a document? The tax calculators cover income tax, salary, VAT, stamp duty, IR35 and more. Need a template for your trade? Browse the invoice templates by trade or the full template library.
Frequently asked questions
Are these tools free?
Yes. The generators, the invoice parser, receipt to CSV and every template are free with no account and no card. The parser and receipt reader take up to 20 documents a day for each person.
What is the difference between these tools and the tax calculators?
These tools make or read a document: a PDF you send, a CSV you import, a template you fill in. The tax calculators work out a figure, such as your tax, take-home pay or stamp duty. Both are free; the calculators live on their own page.
Which generator do I need?
A quote offers a price before the work. An invoice asks to be paid after it. A pro forma asks for payment before you deliver. A receipt confirms you have been paid, and a credit note reduces or cancels an invoice you already sent.
Can the invoice parser read an invoice made with the generator?
Yes, exactly. Every PDF TapTax makes carries a machine-readable copy of what is printed, so the parser reads it field for field with no guessing, and no draw on the daily limit.
Do you keep my documents?
No. Generated PDFs are built for the download and not stored. Files you read are held in memory for the read and dropped: not saved, not added to any account, and nothing they say is logged.
Past one-off tools: send invoices from TapTax.
TapTax creates and sends your invoices, tracks which ones are paid and files your quarterly updates to HMRC. Start on the free plan, no card needed.
